Thank you to those who voted in our officer election, here are the results:

This is Kevin writing, it has been a pleasure leading the club, as we have worked together to put Cleveland on the water polo map. I am also very happy to hand the reins over to Matt Kittle, who we are very fortunate to have back in Cleveland.

I will also sign off by saying a belated thank you to Eric Sullivan who taught me a great deal about water polo, and specifically about coaching a masters club. He was a great contributor to our club's growth.

Hello all!
Just wanted to send you all a quick reminder that we will begin practices tonight [Monday] at 8 pm. If you can make it out tonight, I would appreciate your attendance!

Practice Canceled Sunday Aug. 30

Please be aware, Practice this Sunday Aug 30, will be canceled due to a number of people being out town. Sorry for the late notice. Please be ready to resume normal practice schedule next Thursday at CSU.

Fall Season Kick Off

Its that time again... we will officially kick off the Fall Season next Thursday. This post is a very brief overview of what will be a more detailed post and discussion next week. We will be having one week of "Pre-Season," meaning we have practice this thursday and sunday, so please plan on attending.

Practices for this Fall:

Regarding practices, for the time being please plan on practice being every Thursday from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at CSU and Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at HB. Please note that these times will change in the future, as they have every year, due to Browns games, High School Swim season, and pool availability. More on this topic as information becomes available.

Scheduled Tournaments:

Please be aware, we have committed to attend the following Tournaments. We will collect names for each starting this week.

Sept 12/13 - The Nutty Invitational - Cincinnati, OH

Sept 19/20 - Flyer Invitational - Dayton, OH

Nov 14/15 - Falcon Invite - Bowling Green, OH

**I am in discussions with several other clubs about 1-2 other tournaments throughout the fall. The plan will be to add at the minimum one more tournament.

HB is on for Sunday at 1 p.m., reason why to vote

We are back on at HB this Sunday 8/23 at 1 p.m. Now is a great time to jump in, we are finalizing entry into tournaments, with the first one scheduled for Sept. 19 and 20.

OFFICER ELECTIONS FOR 2009-2010
Please vote in the election. Voting provides motivation to elected officers to represent the club well. However, last night at CSU, Dan W. made a great point, that he clicked the survey, then chose not to vote because there were no alternatives to each candidate.

We did have a nomination period, and did not receive any additional nominations beyond those listed, however, we added a write-in candidate option. We will extend voting through Saturday.

PRACTICE WEEK OF 8/17
We will resume practice at CSU at 6:30 p.m. this week on Thursday, 8/20 and Sunday, 8/23 at 1 p.m. at HB.

Please be sure to look for updates here at clevelandwaterpolo.com. We work with our facility managers to schedule pool time, and the beginning of a school year and swimming preseason require flexibility as many groups return to the pools. We will keep you posted here for any changes.

Practices for Thursday, August 12 at CSU and Sunday, August 16 at HB are canceled.

A combination of low attendance and a facility repair at HB led to the decision. The plan is to give a week off to allow everyone to get settled with vacations ending and school starting soon.

We will restart following the brief vacation and anticipate getting back up to full scrimmages during practice.

FOR NEW PLAYERS
A number of new, interested players have reached out and are interested in joining. Welcome! A few bits of info that may answer questions:

- Our next session begins September 1. We always invite interested players to join us for a few practices to get to know the club.

- No water polo experience is necessary, we will teach you the skills and rules. However, you must be able to swim (8 lengths without stopping is a good base), but you do not need to be in shape for a competition.

- Competition and travel is optional, we have players who practice only and who play in our scrimmages. We also have many who travel for tournaments.

- Updates are posted here, please sign up at left for email updates.
