Practice Sunday

As a reminder we will be holding practice this Sunday to help burn off the few extra pieces of pumpkin pie we all enjoyed.

Our next practice will be Sunday at Hathaway Brown at 1:00pm.

Looking to next week, Akron will hold practice Monday and Wednesday starting at 8:00 pm. Next weeks practices at Akron will be the last at Akron until January.

On Sunday of next week, practice will be held at HB at 1:00pm as usual.

Practice this Week

Practice this week again will be canceled at CSU tomorrow - Thursday. We are actively working on finding a solution for the limited pool time, and will update everyone as soon as we have something in motion.

Please do feel free to head down to Akron tonight, Wednesday. If you are at all interested, please let me know, as Steve T. and several other CWPC members have been making the trip down.

Finally, we will have practice this Sunday at HB at 1:00pm. Everyone and anyone is welcome, as I believe a few of the Akron players may be looking to join us.

A 1-2 showing at BG, Congrats to Carl

CWPC Goes 1-2 at Bowling Green Tournament
A crew of Ohio University women's team players, along with a few unattached players from the Columbus area joined up with CWPC to go 1-2 over the weekend in games against Central Michigan University, Ohio State University and Central Ohio WPC.

CWPC handled Central Michigan with a 10+ goal win that showcased a controlled game plan on both ends of the pool.

In a hard fought game against OSU, CWPC fell 9-8 after leading at the half. OSU capitalized on fast break opportunities late to put the game out of reach.

In the final game on Sunday against Central Ohio, CWPC scored three goals in the first quarter to take a lead, and stayed in the game through the half before the quick transitions from Central Ohio overmatched the team. CWPC lost in a rout to close the tournament, but due to seeding that placed CWPC in a winner's bracket after the first game, we brought home 5th place honors in the 12-team format.

CWPC loses a bachelor, Congratulations to Carl!
CWPC veteran Carl Weisfelder shared news with team members that he is now engaged to his girlfriend of seven months, Denise. Carl said Denise hails from the Akron area and now lives in Greater Cleveland. Planning is underway for a summer 2010 wedding. Practice Canceled for this Week

Practice at CSU will be canceled due to limited pool time and the start of high school swimming season.

Practice on Sunday at HB will also be canceled due to the team traveling to BGSU for the tournament.

Feel free to attend Akron's practice Wednesday.

Great Sunday Practice, Thursdays Practice Tentative, Dues, BG Roster / Schedule

Great scrimmage against Akron this Sunday and thanks to Akron for making the trip up to HB!

As we gear up for this week here are a few thing to be aware of.

Dues

Invoices for dues will be sent out by Wade this week. Many of us, myself included, have outstanding balances. Please be vigilant in paying your balances as soon as possible. We will also update the blog so that you can pay for your BGSU tournament fee this week.

Practice this Thursday

Practice is still scheduled for Thursday at CSU at 7:30 PM. As many of you know, I mentioned that we might not have pool time due to high school swim season starting. Scott and I are looking into this. Please plan on checking the website and your email regularly for updates.

Below is information regarding the BG Tournament. Should you have any additional questions please let me know.

Game Play:

Games will be 4x6 minute quarters (we will switch over to 5 minute quarters if we fall behind) with 2 minutes between quarters, 3 minutes at half, and two-2 minute timeouts per team. Officiating the tournament will be referees Peter Pappas (returning from last year) and Andy Terrien. The tournament set up will be very similar to last year’s. Each team’s first game determines if they are in the upper or lower bracket. From there, each team plays championship-style within their bracket.

Terms:

Each team plays their opening game; the winners and losers are split into their own groups.

Teams then play within their new grouping (upper 6 and lower 6).

Winner game #2-B Loser game #2-H

Winner game#3-C Loser game #3-I

Winner game #4-D Loser game #4-J

Teams are then ranked 1-6 within their bracket (A=Upper, B=Lower) based on their record during tournament play. If two teams in the same bracket have the same record after tournament play, goal differential will be used to determine seeding in championship play.
